Magical moments can be made no matter what the weather forecast is.

It was a couple days before Melissa & Wes said their “I Dos” and what was supposed to be the most magical day was dampened by the forecast. Unfortunately, Asheville called for rain all day on the last Saturday in April. Most photographers and couples would consider this the demise of their wedding day but we were committed to capturing some magical moments despite the gloomy and wet weather. Here are some tips if you don’t want to get caught in the rain!

If you’re planning an outdoor wedding, you MUST have a plan B! Melissa found this beautiful AirBnB in Asheville that would’ve hosted a lovely outdoor ceremony but due to the forecast, she had to make arrangements for the wedding to be held indoors. Luckily, this house had amazing large windows in the living room that made for the perfect backdrop to their wedding. This change in plans was easy to make thanks to the consideration of any circumstance on the wedding day.

I was determined to capture some amazing photos no matter the weather so I prepared myself and gear for the possibility of getting wet. As a photographer, I have to be willing to do whatever it takes to capture those special moments between my couples. However, this requires flexibility from the photographer and the couple to be willing to change up the timeline or get a little rained on at the expense of some great photos. I couldn’t be prouder of Melissa and Wes as they were such an easy-going and flexible couple to work with. This allowed us to make the time to run outside and get some amazing shots.

If you’re wedding day forecast is looking a little dreary, it’s hard to maintain a positive attitude. But you have to trust in your photographer and be flexible and you will capture some truly amazing shots. These magical moments were captured on a day that never saw the sun, but you forget that after seeing the depth that these images hold.
